Interactive Blogs Are The Most Successful – Part 3

This will conclude our 3 part series of interactive blogs. In this third part we will look at some internal plugins or widgets that will help the visitor to your site navigate to helpful information with greater ease and as a result should make your site, on a whole, more productive.

RSS Feed
If you don’t have an RSS feed you are missing an extremely valuable tool. The RSS feed is another form of viral marketing as mentioned in part 1 of this series. Visitors to your site can subscribe to this feed and will receive updates as you add content to your blog. I personally use Feedburner provided by Google and there is a WordPress plugin for that. You will have to get an account with Google and then setting up the feed is mostly automatic. You will be able to have Google add AdSense to your feed earning you some extra money. This will provide further interaction.

Newsletter Subscription
A newsletter can be set up to send the subscribers an email each time you add new content to your website. Unlike the RSS Feed you can send your subscribers a newsletter at will. This was you can send them information that is not posted on your website and can post information on your blog that will not be sent to the subscribers. A well ordered newsletter that is enjoyable and informative and not just sales pitches, one after another will build relationships built on trust and respect and will be worth it’s weight in gold for years to come. Therefore, a newsletter is a part of the most interactive blogs.

Recent Posts and Comments
One the WordPress dashboard in the widgets section there are recent comments and recent posts and placing these on your sidebars will create fantastic on page navigation for your visitors. If they come to your site through an article on “Cleaning your dog’s teeth” and they see another recent post on “How to groom your dog and not get bit” they are likely to continue browsing your site. Recent comments can also catch their eye and lead them to read more and meander around your site stumbling over more and yet greater information.

There is a WordPress plugin for this option and it will pull posts that are related by tags into a list like the recent posts. I know that I would like to link to all the other relevant posts from one so that people can keep reading, learning and growing. This plugin takes care of that for you by pulling all related content into a list for the visitor. I just love it when you can automate all these great systems to help your readers.

2 Tips How To Make Money Blogging

Affiliate marketing can be a great source of income for many people as long as you know how to make the whole process work for you. One of the first efforts that you are taught when you begin is that you need to start a blog. Unfortunately, although this is a common aspect of affiliate marketing, there are a lot of people who do not know how to make money blogging through their affiliate products. They assume that a blog is the way that they make their presence known or a way to help other affiliate marketers who are still learning the tricks of the trade. While both things are true, learning how to make money blogging involves so much more than just that.

There is one important thing that you need to know before you start working on following some advice and learning how to make money blogging. When you are using a blog for promoting your affiliate products, you must have a dramatic blog – something that makes it stand out and draws attention, which is your goal. You have to make sure that your blog is getting the most attention, and thereby the most readers. When you boost your traffic, you are also increasing the amount of sales conversions that you have. This is the foundation of how to make money blogging.

1. Recommending and Endorsing Your Products

In figuring out how to make money blogging through affiliate programs, first you need to make sure that you are choosing affiliate products that are beneficial and highly sought after. Products like self-help e-books and computer programs are great ideas. There are so many to choose from that you have near endless possibilities. You should know however, that there are scam products out there that you need to watch out for; you do not want to spend the time marketing a product that turns out to be a huge scam.

That said, the actual effort of how to make money blogging is about recommending and endorsing the affiliate products that you are trying to market. One of the best ways to do this is actually to test the product yourself. Then you can use your personal experiences with the product as part of your effort of using your affiliate product in learning how to make money blogging. The goal is to show your readers that you are trustworthy and honest. When you can convey this to readers as potential customers, they will keep coming back to see what else you are offering, and they will tell other people about their experiences with the product and where they got it from.

2. Using Affiliate Links

In learning how to make money blogging, you have no doubt learned the importance of using your affiliate links. The affiliate links are the ones that are generated specifically for you by the affiliate programs that you have signed up for. They are a means of tracking the products that you are marketing; your unique affiliate link is a tracer that is based on your affiliate identification. The placement of these links is important. In many e-books available about monetizing your blog, you will find information about using affiliate links, but not about proper placement. Your affiliate links need to be positioned in the hot spots of your blog, such as places where they can easily be seen by people who visit. The most visible locations include the top left side of your blog’s home page, as well as the introduction and middle of each posting. Learning how to make money blogging successfully will be largely dependent on this placement.

3 Things Readers Look For In Blog Entries

Your blog entries should maintain a certain consistency with the overall theme of the site itself and this is what subscribers expect. The theme your site ‘adopted’ is of obvious appeal to the blog reader or they would not continue to return. Their satisfaction or lack thereof is often reflected when they post comments in response to any changes or new posts on the site.

The blog traffic your subscribers represent is needed not only for the helpful suggestions they offer but also for any additional blog traffic their referrals may generate. It is therefore critical for the health of your blog to keep your readers happy and to make your site as comfortable as possible for them. The question now is what else can you do to maintain the comfort and satisfaction of your readers?

Here are 3 simple rules you want to follow when posting to your blog to ensure the convenience and satisfaction of readers in order to maintain their loyalty.

Serve a Purpose for Readers

Yeah I know we all have heard it before but if your information is NOT useful in some way WHY would anybody want to read it? Your entries can supply the reader with useful information, insight or even humor but your posts do need to contain content the blog reader gets something out of. You do want them to return do you not?

Plain Speak

Write in a way that EVERYBODY can understand. A strong vocabulary is a great asset but if people do not understand what you are saying what good is it? Always remember that you are trying to make a point or convey a message so do not make it harder on the reader by using words they may not recognize.

Layout

Format your post so people can easily ’scan’ it for the points you are trying to make. When people read online they can be like a hawk circling their prey, they like to scan first before they decide to ’swoop’ in for the read.

The blog entries you post on your site are the focal point of the blog reader and are used to determine whether they will continue to return. The quality of the content contained in these entries is important but other factors help determine your readers satisfaction as well. Acknowledging readers’ suggestions when they post comments is also helpful in strengthening their loyalty and your blog traffic. Combining these efforts and following the 3 simple rules for posting blog entries as mentioned above will help maintain reader satisfaction. In doing so both you and your blog can continue to grow and meet the needs of the readers for whom you blog in the first place.

Hitting Your Stride – Four Keys To Timing Your Blog

There are a number of important factors that go into the production of a first-class blog. Quality of content, the layout of the page, how best to integrate video, formal versus informal tone, each of these is a decision that must be made during the creation of the project. That all comes before more esoteric concerns, which include the integration of meta tags, link building, traffic generation, and keyword/SEO implementation.

Yet underlying these important issues is one that many people wrestle with: How often should the thing be updated? Innocuous as it sounds, post frequency is actually vital to the success of any content project, and especially to blogs. Equally, it is a surprisingly complex decision that can involve numerous factors. Time, place, and availability of content all have parts to play in determining just how often you need to update your blog.

Finding the Right Frequency

Blogging is an extension of the principles of marketing. You want to get your content the exposure you feel it deserves, so you market it as best you can to cultivate an audience. This involves doing the legwork and research necessary to act on good information, and testing your ideas while allowing room for adjustment as you work and grow. Chances are you will not hit the right rate of posting immediately, and that is all right as long as you’re prepared to adjust when it’s required.

No single article can cover every eventuality of course, but we can break down a few core principles to get you thinking in the right direction. The key is to consider these ideas and extrapolate from them, using the other lessons you’ve learned, to build a solid, whole-picture approach.

1 – Make content king.

More than almost any other community, web users are keenly attuned to fluff pieces that don’t really say much. This isn’t true for 100% of the community of course, but those who can pick out an airy, pointless piece will almost invariably be sure to point it out, leading to some word of mouth you probably didn’t want. Don’t pick an update schedule that can’t live up to the content you have available. Stick to a schedule that you know you can provide a quality post for, every single time you sign on.

This has a twofold effect. One, it keeps the ‘pressure to post’ at a minimum. Content drives the posting, and you aren’t struggling every third day to come up with more information, or worse to rehash the information you’ve already posted. Secondly, it shows you have respect for the community, and keeps them interested and coming back.

2 – Set the time and day.

Even though the web never sleeps, a great part of the world still functions on a Monday to Friday, 9-5 schedule of sorts. Taking these rhythms into account can help you build the ideal web traffic for your project. For example, a blog focusing on home and family concerns and selling books related to it might not find as much of an audience during traditional business hours as during the time when people are at-home with their families. Granted this is only a rule of thumb, as many people surf the web for their favorite blogs during lunch breaks.

Another part of this element is the Monday-Wednesday-Friday cycle. Many business blogs and publications settle on a three-a-week update schedule, and the MWF routine works out very well for this. They’re all business days, and the schedule covers the start, middle, and end stretches of a workweek.

Of course since this ends up being something of the default, it means that Tuesdays and Thursdays end up with comparatively little content for people to peruse. Sundays suffer a lack of content as well, for the obvious related reasons. If you find yourself preferring less frequent, longer posts, consider a T-Th routine to take advantage of the ‘gap’ between other updates.

3 – Have a conversation.

One of the most interesting contributions to modern marketing is the blog comments section. Every blogging software out there has some feature for allowing or disallowing comments. As we’ve discussed before, consumer input can have an incredible effect on any brand, and blogs are no exception.

Taking advantage of this resource requires a certain amount of patience. Conversations develop in the comments section as people discuss, dispute, and debate the merits of what you’ve posted. In short, you need to not just let this happen, but cultivate the effect. Allow reasonable discussions to grow, and comment yourself on the more relevant points. Let the consumer know their input is being seen, and that you care enough to respond to it. Posting new blog posts too frequently overruns this tendency, and could rob you of vital feedback.

4 – Be nimble.

As we’ve mentioned, you are not likely to get it right just out of the gate. You may bite off too much to chew, or update too infrequently for people to care. Evaluate the data, ask your consumers questions, and be prepared to change as needed. Flexibility is the ultimate survival tool on the web, and your blog will benefit if you approach the affair with an open mind and a willingness to try several approaches. Pick an update schedule, observe it, and then experiment with others until you have the one that best fits your needs.

10 Steps To Making Money On The Internet Through Blogging

I am not trying to sell you my latest “Get Rich Quick” scheme because I do not have one. Besides, each ebook you read will have a wealth of information within them which will, without a doubt help you to discover the secrets of How to Make Money Online. I, However will only tell you what I know works through my own experience with the subject matter at hand. If you are looking for ways to start making money on the internet, then these are the best ways that I know of to start of quickly and easily.

I use a 10 step guide to setting up and starting all of my blogs.

One of the Big things people seem to miss when they first get started blogging is that their blog must contain information that people want to read. You must know this before we get into the 10 steps so that there is no slip up in this area.

I am not here to tell you how to write your blog, that is up to you, but what I am about to tell you is the 10 things I do to make money on the internet. You can choose to use these techniques or not, that is totally up to you.

Step 1 – Finding a Topic

Think of a topic you are interested in and write it down. It should be something other people are interested in too. I usually will take a look a some magazines for ideas or go to dummies.com for an look at what some people are interested in buying and what problems they are trying to solve. I also check Google Trends to see what people are looking for currently.

Step 2 – Start your blog

I usually buy hosting and a domain name but some people do not so you can choose what to do with that.I like to use WordPress when I use a free platform but Blogger is also very good. Create your content, make it original, and make it informative. I write about 5 to 20 articles the first day so that I can spend the next few days promoting my blog without running out of content. You need to include the keywords you wrote down in Step 1 in the content of your blog but try not to overuse them. Search engines call it keyword spamming when you throw to many keywords into one blog post. try using your keyword less then 5% of the time. If that is to difficult to keep up with then just make sure you are remaining on topic with your original point of the post.

Step 3 – Get Google

Sign up for Google AdSense and place ads on your blog pages. You can use text links or image links for the AdSense ads. I prefer the text links only, because they are easier to blend into your blog and do not take the focus away from the information. Google AdSense will probably not make you a millionaire but it is an instant way of generating a small amount of money.

Set up Google Analytics to track where your visitors are coming from and how many your are getting.

Step 4 – Find Something to Sell

To maximize your income and truly learn how about making real money on the internet with blogs you will want to find an affiliate program to join. I use Clickbank and Commission Junction. You can sell anything from office furniture, pet supplies to Ebooks, and Dieting tips.

Step 5 – Social Bookmarking

There is no better advertising than word of mouth, but the next best thing is social bookmarking. I use a service called onlywire that allows readers to post social bookmarks to multiple bookmarking sites quickly and easily.

Step 6 – Write an Article

No matter what your blog is about or what product you are featuring, you will most likely want to write a few articles about it. Most article directories require articles of 500 words and over so I would use this as a rule when writing to ensure your article gets published.

Submit your article. I personally use a few of the Top Article directories such as EzineArticles, Article Dashboard, Amazines.com, isnare and SearchWarp. I also use a nifty piece of software called Article Submitter which will submit your articles to over 600 article directories, which saves you lots of time and leaves you to focus on writing your blogs. Just remember to never use the same article on multiple sites. Search Engines do not like duplicate content.

Step 7 – Ping, Ping, Ping

You will want to Ping your blog every time you update any posts. Some blog providers automatically send out pings when you update, but to be on the safe side you will want to do this manually too. You will also want to ping any thing that you do that points toward your blog, like articles, blog posts, bookmarks, etc. Only ping new content!

There are a couple of Ping sites I use which will send a ping to multiple blog directories at the same time. Pingoat and Ping-o-matic are my favorite to use. Remember, to only ping when you update or you could get blacklisted.

Step 8 – Yahoo! Answers and Forums

Forums are great places to go that will help you get in touch with your market and let you find targeted visitors for your blog. You must be careful not to just blatantly promote you blog. You will be kicked out of the forum for that. Join a lot of conversations and try to add value to the forum. Leave your blog link in your signature box. Trust me, when you are showing your knowledge people will be interested in your site.

Yahoo! Answers works a tiny bit differently. You will go onto Yahoo answers, search for a question that is in your niche and start answering questions. When you answer you can say something like ” I found out at myblog.com” or ” get more info at myblog.com” This is a great way to have ongoing traffic coming to your site without fail.

Step 9 – Update Your Blog

Continue updating your blog. You want to have your blog updated daily. You should also start to build connections though your forum activity so that you can network and have guest bloggers come onto your site. This allows you to take small breaks and lets them link back to their site.

Step 10 – Rinse and Repeat

Repeat steps 1 – 10, Making money on the internet can be that simple. You can eventually hire outsourced writers to continue your blogging or to promote your blog for you. This is meant to help people who do not have any experience get started and remove any fear or doubt about making money on the internet.

The Main Advantages Of A Technology Blog

Almost everyone in the modern world, who wants to seek information, finds surfing the internet as the most convenient and effective method. This fact has prompted many individuals and companies to meet their potential friends, contacts, colleagues, business partners, or clients online. They do so by putting up websites and blogs. While there is not much difference between both, blogs are less expensive to maintain and more personal in approach. Therefore, it does not reek with profit orientation, something that can discourage a potential client who just wants a venue for presenting and discussing his questions and problems.

Technology blogs are becoming a fad in the internet because of the advantages these provide to both bloggers and readers. It is a fact that technology has never ceased to develop. Many things have stagnated because of failing economies. Basic and big financial companies have been threatened with closures. However, technology, particularly in electronics continues to boom. In fact, there seems to be a new gadget better than a model that was just released the previous month. That is how fast technological advancement is. That is also how in demand technology blogs are. People want to know about the latest models. They want explanations about how these work. They want to have information before buying these latest releases. They do this by going to the internet and read technology blogs.

While technology blogs are necessities in a rapidly developing techno world, the bloggers can certainly make use of these to earn money too. They can allow companies manufacturing or reselling computers and other electronic appliances and devices to post ads in their blogs. After all, the blogs cater to people interested in something related to technology. So, why not provide them the choices of products they can buy too. Because most blogs are free, the owner of the blog can earn money without being burdened with so many expenses. Compared to a costly website, a technology blog draws in money without fuss.

One more very important feature in a technology blog is that it allows interaction not just with the blog owner but also with the other readers. This is very important when it comes to technology. The best way to know about the quality of a certain technological product is not to browse its website. One can expect a subjective view on the product from its own promotional site. However, if he goes to a blog populated with consumer’s comments on it, he will surely get a more objective perspective. If blogs are meant to be venues for expressing and sharing ideas on almost any subject, those on technology are means of introducing, analyzing, and judging the latest engineering wonders, especially those in electronics and communications.

Does A Business Really Need A Blog?

Everyone these days say you need a blog, especially if you’re in business. If you’re a small business a blog can be a great way of connecting with customers and pushing out information to them. Also, the nature of a blog platform, also makes it easy for your content to get found by people and search engines. A blog is fairly simple and inexpensive to set up, so setting up a blog can take a fraction of the time it takes to set up a full blown website – and it can still look pretty professional. Blogs, since they are often updated can even take the place of a company email, which often get buried in an email inbox or caught up in a spam filter.

But there is one caveat with a blog – in order to do it’s job well, it needs to updated frequently. You can talk about your products and services, industry news and even had a bit of personal color. The tone of a blog is generally friendlier and casual than a company website. Since most blogs support comments, customer can even ask questions on a post, making it easy to engage in a dialogue – and answering sales questions in real time – just be sure to answer them.

A blog isn’t substitute for a company website – especially if you offer ecommerce. Blogs for the most part don’t do shopping carts, inventory management or handle shipping and tax calculations that well. Also detailed product specs probably won’t work as well with the more casual log format, but you might be able to bud buzz for an upcoming product launch using a blog – revealing bits and pieces of the whole over a series of posts to build people’s anticipation.

Also blogging takes work – a good blog is updated several times a week and if you truly want a lot of traffic, you will need to spend time marketing your blog – time that might be spent directly marketing your products or your business. No a blog, in many cases should be thought of as an indirect marketing tool for many established product or service companies.

But make no mistake, a blog can be a powerful tool for a smaller company on a budget – it can give your company real personality and it can be an excellent low cost way to market your company. Is a blog right for your business? Only you can decide – and sometimes the only way to know is to try it – but be sure to commit to it fully for a period of time – six months or so. Also you should decide on some goals for your blog – do you want it to build your email list (make sure you add an email capture box to your blog) increase product awareness, or jump start sales. Your goals will dictate the content of your blog and how you use it.
